Smart FTP
If you're looking to get hosted, knowing ftp is (most of the time) something you must be familiar with, as you'll need it to maintain your site. Follow this simple tutorial to find out how to use one of the common ftp programs, Smart FTP. For a free download, click here.
Once you have your ftp account set up, first you need to login. Your host will have given you a username, password (and) a server. Open up Smart FTP and type in your login info like this. You need to leave the Port as 21 unless your host tells you to change it. Now press enter and you should get logged in.
Now you'll need to make your pages if you havent done so already. Notepad is a good program to use. Open up notepad and make your page and then you need to save it as .html or .php. (.html is recommended unless you know php) You must save it with either of those or else your page wont work.
To transfer your files into smart ftp, you need to find the place where you saved your files and have it open ontop of smart ftp. Now drag your file into the white bit and it should come up there. Click here to see how to do it.
If you want to upload more than one file at a time then just highlight the files you want to upload and drag them all into the same space.
Now if you've done everything correctly then you should be able to go to the page and see your content! Ftp is also really easy once you get the hang of it!
